Ongar Millennium History Society
The kneeler was produced to commemorate the 925th anniversary of St Martin’s church. The kneeler is a tapestry which is the width of the church at the approach to the altar and features many motifs that depict the history of Ongar through the ages. The kneeler can be seen in St Martin’s Church.
The motifs and a brief description of their connection with the history of Onger can be seen in the Kneeler leaflet and photos below.
Work started on the kneeler in 2006 and was carried out by members of the society who completed the kneeler in 2008.
